What this service is

Reloop is a two-sided phone marketplace operating in India: we buy used phones from people who want to sell them, and we sell certified refurbished phones to people who want to buy them. This policy covers both sides, because the same account and the same app serve both. We are not an advertising business — we collect what running a buyback and resale service needs, and nothing more.

Data we collect

Account details — your name, email address and phone number, used to create and secure your account.
Addresses — the pickup addresses you give us to collect a phone you're selling, and the delivery addresses you save when buying a refurbished device, including any map pin you place on them.
Device information — if you're selling a phone, the make, model, IMEI/serial number, and the condition details you or our inspection provide (cosmetic and functional grade, battery health). We need the IMEI to check the device isn't lost, stolen or blacklisted before we pay for it.
Precise location while you use the app — used to check whether we can arrange a pickup at your address (serviceability) and to route the field agent collecting your device. Location is read only while you are using the app; we do not track your location in the background.
Order and quote history — the sell quotes you've accepted, the purchases you've made, what was paid or charged, and how.
Payout details — the bank account or UPI ID you give us to receive payment for a phone you sold. Used only to send that one payment; never for anything else.
Support messages — what you send us through the contact form or in-app support, so we can reply and fix things.
Notification token — if you allow notifications, your device is issued a unique push token so we can tell you about a quote, a pickup or an order. We use it only for that, never for advertising, and it stops working if you turn notifications off or uninstall the app.

Why we collect it

To quote, collect and pay for a phone you're selling; to check a device's IMEI isn't blacklisted before we take custody of it; to sell you a refurbished device and deliver it; to take payment and issue refunds or payouts; to answer your support requests; to prevent fraud and abuse of the service; and to meet tax and record-keeping obligations under Indian law. We do not use your data for any purpose beyond running the service.

No ads, no tracking, no sale of data

We do not show third-party advertising, we do not use advertising or analytics trackers that profile you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone. Ever.

Third-party processors

We keep the list short. Map tiles used to check pickup and delivery serviceability are served by OlaMaps; when the map loads, OlaMaps receives the approximate coordinates of the area being shown so it can return the right tiles. It does not receive your name, phone number or address. Our servers and database are operated by us on infrastructure we control.

Push notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service acting as our processor: it receives your device’s notification token and the text of the update we are sending, so it can pass that message to your device via Apple’s or Google’s notification network. It does not receive your name, phone number, address or payment details. We use Firebase only to deliver notifications — we do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or any advertising feature.

How long we keep data

Your account data is kept while your account exists. A device’s IMEI, grading and inspection record is retained for as long as we hold or have sold that unit, so its history can be traced if it is later disputed or returned under warranty. Order, payout and payment records are retained after deletion in anonymized form for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires. Support messages are kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Login and diagnostic records are kept briefly for security, then removed.

Security

All traffic between the app, the website and our servers is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted argon2 hashes, and login codes are stored only as hashes with short expiries. Access to production data, including payout details and IMEI records, is restricted to the people who operate the service.

Your rights

You can view and correct your details in the app under Profile. You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you. And you can delete your account — either directly in the app (Profile → Delete account) or as described on our account deletion page. Deletion is irreversible: your identity is removed and only anonymized order and device records required by law are retained.

Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

We process personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: we collect only what the service needs, for the purposes stated here, we honour your rights to access, correction and erasure, and you may raise a grievance with the officer below. You also have the right to approach the Data Protection Board of India if you believe your grievance has not been resolved.

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date at the top. A change that materially affects how your data is handled will also be announced in the app.
